TEN MINUTE PLAYS

Synopsis: A husband and wife's argument over the need for a weather radio leads to some uncomfortable truths about the world in which they work and live.
Selected for reading and critique at the 2019 Midwest Dramatists Center Conference, Olathe, Kansas.

Synopsis: An English teacher dad must learn to cope with his daughter's "pronoun of choice."

Synopsis: A bereaved man reaches out to a former drinking buddy in an attempt to find relief over the death of his brother. 

ONE ACT MELODRAMAS
(4 F / 4 M, 1 either. 3 extra roles for children.) 
Synopsis: At the Perfect Poodle Pageant, three contestants and their sidekicks resort to drastic tactics to take home the hundred grand prize.


Synopsis: When Little Orphan Amy, owner of the Down Home Depot and Orphanage, won't sell to Dirk Dastardly, owner of the Down Lowe Depot and Saloon, the villain will do anything to be rid of those pesky orphans. Luckily, Ray O'Hope, a down and out stranger, comes to the rescue, helping Amy and her orphans save the day. 
NOTE: Three of the female roles are for singing chorus girls, so there could be more than three. Plan on having at least three children extras to play the "little orphans", though there could be as many orphans as there is room on the stage.

Synopsis: When Gil and Richard Shakespeare learn that their sister Joan has been secretly writing and directing plays, they are determined to see Joan and her all-female acting troupe face the Queen's justice.  Luckily, older brother Will comes to the rescue. With characters based on the actual family of William Shakespeare, this play explores the possibility that maybe Will had a little help from his sister Joan in writing his plays.
NOTE: The GROUNDLING CHORUS consists of an all-girl grammar school. There are FOUR speaking parts, and these should be played by girls. Any other children in the chorus could be either gender as long as they appear to be female. 


TWO-ACT FARCE

Synopsis: When a baby store offers a million dollar prize to the first baby born in Y2K, chaos ensues as four couples try anything and everything to win the contest. 
Winner of the 2012 Oklahoma Writer's Federation New Play Contest.

Synopsis: When a set of plans for a revolutionary spacecraft appear at the launch party for the Gemini 3 Mission at NASA, murder and mayhem blast off as everyone tries to get their hands on the plans.

JUKEBOX MUSICAL

Synopsis: Based on the true story of how the song "Home on the Range" became the state song of Kansas, this jukebox musical tells the story of how a confirmed traveling bachelor found love and a sense of home while finding the truth behind America's favorite folk song.
